What is Xanth? Isn't that the main question? Well, it's said that it was a world created by the demon, X(A/N)th, later separated from the Mundance world due to the violence there that was spilling over. Xanth is pronounced with a soft 'x', like 'xylaphone'. It used to be that if anyone was caught saying 'Ex-anth', they were ritually sacrificed to the Gods of Linguistics.

A little General Information on Xanth....
Typically, every living being in Xanth has a talent, be it part of their exsistance, or something special they can do. Supposedly, no one can have the exact same talent as another at the same time. Depending on how important and strong your talent is, you can be classified as a Sorcoress or a Magician. Take King Dor for example, his talent gave him the ability to shift into any form, thus, he was a Magician. And Princess Ivy, who was able to speed the growth of plants and such, so she was a Sorcoress. I even heard once about a girl who could turn things awry. Braddli has a talent too, cool, eh?

Good Magician of Information, Humphry
The picture to the right is of the Good Magician Humphry, a reclusive, rude little man who is aging slowly because he continually raids the Fountain of Youth. Humphry's talent is Information, he somehow knows everything, or so they say. Not much is known about the nature of his talent, except that he is sought out all the time as a result. In order to ask the Magician a question, one must pass three challenges, changed and switched around just before you've arrived everytime, just to suit you and what you can do. Then, you ask your question, but think hard. Is it really worth waiting a year during servitude for the answer?

Humphry is known by just about everyone in Xanth, he knows everythin, except where his socks are and he's over a hundred years old, youth only obtained by the elixirs provided by the Fountain of Youth. He wears spectacles, fitted to suit him and only him and most of his books are written in some text that no one knwos but him. The book he's always scribbling in, that's his great Book of Answers. He doesn't usually like to be bothered, and yes, Humphry has been married, a couple of times I think and has a son, Hugh. Humphry is usually in, or referred to, in all the Xanth Novels.
